An Irritating (Or Sometimes Debilitating) Condition

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the hinge that connects your jaw to your skull. It is subjected to some of the most extreme stresses in your body as you chew or talk. Problems with the joint and the muscles surrounding are call temporomandibular disorders or TMDs.

TMDs can be caused by injuries, stress, arthritis, or other conditions. Symptoms can include jaw pain, clicking when talking or chewing, or sudden “locking” of the jaw.

Dr. Dan Thompson and his staff offer a number of treatments for TMDs, including repairing bite or tooth issues that could be causing the problem, along with other techniques for de-stressing jaw muscles or keeping the jaw in proper alignment to alleviate symptoms.
